1. How did you decide to transfer from Academia into your current career path? My interest in biology was always grounded in the belief that it would allow me to make a contribution in the area of treating disease and improving patient outcomes.   I had been fortunate to work in labs headed by physicians as well as scientists, and on projects that had some relevance to the body's innate ability to combat disease, which only sharpened my desire to pursue work that had practical applications.
